What is longhorn cowfish?

The longhorn cowfish, also known as the horned boxfish, is a species of boxfish found in tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. They are known for their unique appearance, with protruding horns on their heads and a box-like body shape.

Longhorn cowfish can grow up to 20 inches in length and have a lifespan of around 6-10 years. They are usually found in shallow, sandy areas near coral reefs where they feed on small invertebrates, algae, and mollusks.

These fish have a hard, armor-like exterior made up of fused bony plates which provides protection from predators. They also have the ability to inflate their bodies with water when threatened, making them appear larger and more intimidating to potential threats.

Longhorn cowfish are generally peaceful and can be kept in aquariums, but they can release a toxic substance when stressed which can be harmful to other fish in the tank. It's important to provide them with a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and a varied diet to ensure their health and well-being.
